The ODECO Final Conference marks the culmination of a 4-year EU funded Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network initiative. This three-day conference, scheduled for May 14-16, 2025, brings together leading scientists, researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers to showcase the groundbreaking research results of 15 Early Stage Researchers in creating a user-driven, circular, and inclusive open data ecosystem.
Join us as we explore the future of open data and its potential to address current and future challenges across various sectors. The conference will feature an interactive exercise on open date mapping, keynote speeches, panel discussions, expert talks, and presentations highlighting the innovative research conducted by our Early Stage Researchers under the guidance of leading European institutions.
Day 1: Mapping Hidden Stories: reflecting on pedestrian accessibility in Athens (half day)
The first day will be centered around an attempt to map and enhance accessibility in the very popular archaeological and touristic areas in Athens and specifically around the Acropolis area, particularly for pedestrians with mobility-impairments, such as the elderly and people with disabilities. This session features a hands-on mapping exercise designed to identify accessibility gaps and determine the data needed for better navigation. By engaging stakeholders in this process, the event aims to shape research outcomes and promote more inclusive data practices, ultimately leaving a lasting impact on future visitors.
Venue: COCO-MAT Athens BC,
Address: Falirou 5, Athens 117 42
This day is the academic track of the conference and centered around our ESRs who will be showcasing their research outcomes within the ODECO project. The presentations of the ESRs will be structured around thematic sessions covering technology, business, public sector, and citizens & non-profit organizations. Upon the conclusion of the presentations in each thematic session a cross-sector discussion split in different round tables will ensue. Panel members, different open data stakeholders (from the public, private, non-profit, and academic sectors) and participants will play a crucial role in collectively reflecting on ODECO research and share their perspectives.
