María Elena López Reyes started as an ESR on 1 February 2022 and joined the Institute of Communication and Psychology at Aalborg University in Copenhagen, Denmark. Since her start as a Ph.D. María Elena López Reyes has done research on social value in open data systems in local governments. She has focused her initial work on mapping the field of value creation in open data systems in local governments, the relations between actors, and the role of civil servants. The focus on civil servants’ roles and relations between actors has been established by recognizing that these elements are less well-researched. The definition of this is seen as the research basis for developing local government adoption strategies that are also part of María Elena López Reyes’s later Ph.D. work.

Malena was the main author of the paper entitled “The Use of Open Government Data to Create Social Value” published in the EGOV 2022. Lecture Notes in Computer Science. On the 20th of July 2022,

 

María Elena started her secondment at København Kommune in the Social Innovation Hub Fishtank. Her work consists of mapping the value creation through government data within an ecosystem consisting of social innovation initiatives, governmental organizations, and citizens. She has also participated in teaching activities at AAU.
